Nutritional Information

Everything you buy in the store comes with a Nutritional Information label. I felt that my bread too should have a nutritional label. So far this is what I have come up with based on recipes that we are pretty happy with. The recipes are still evolving a bit, and I will have more to add to this after we get back from holidays.
Note:
- I do not put more than a tablespoon of sugar into any recipes, even though many ask for up to 1 cup!
- Number of slices per loaf varies, but I think about 10 slices is common (they are thick, but we may have found a way to make the slices thinner)

Whole Wheat
(1/3 white flour)
Banana Bread French Baguette Dough*
Cinnamon Raisin Bread

1.5lbs.= 680 g 1.5lbs. 1.5lbs. dough1.5lbs.

Total $ $1.01 $1.72** $0.74 $1.30

Calories 1678.8 2068.8 1556.9 1970.3
Carbs (g)295.4 361.4 287.7 344.5
Protein (g) 52.9 60.7 49.0 60.0

* makes 8 20cm baguettes, baked on a cookie sheet in the oven.
**plus price of 2 bananas.
In Canada, nutritional labels are allowed 20% error in their information. Therefore I tried to get nutritional information for the ingredients from more reputable sources that the packaging the food came in. I could find this for most ingredients, but not all.

New real fake Christmas tree

We now have a real fake Christmas tree thanks to some friends that dropped it off at our house warming party on the weekend.

It has joined our sunny jungle.

And we had some left over wood so I made a calf raises thing. I can add this to my jogging, push up and sit up routine...... that I swear I will begin one day soon.

carpooling

We had our first snow fall/ice strom over the weekend.

Basically it rained all day Friday, then it turned into ice pellets and snow. And everything froze. The roads seemed safe and dry the following morning, but the car was covered in a 3cm thick layer of ice. It seems the rest of this week will be cold enough for this snow cover to stay. Plus the little bit of snow that is exected over the next few days will ensure we have a good base.

FYI:
The gas price watching site in Ottawa also has a carpooling resource.
