Labour Day in San Francisco

I spent Labour Day in San Francisco with Bruce. I found a last minute cheap ticket through Virgin America, the nightclub of the sky. It was a whirlwind weekend designed by the host. Although I went to see a city, as you will see below, I mostly took pictures while outside the city.

The tourism started Saturday morning bright and early. We rode a tram to the Ferry Market and I bought cheese (and Bruce forgot to buy salsa).

Then we started the hill climbing to Coit Tower.
<---photo from Coit Tower Afterwards, we made our way through Chinatown and the Tenderloin to the slow food show at the Civic Center Plaza.

One thing that got me was how straight the streets were, in this very hilly setting. This created a neat effect when you were elevated and could see the streets coming together in the distance.

More public transit, and we were home again getting ready for the best ride I have been on in ages. We took the following round trip route over the Golden Gate Bridge to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Sausalito (link). Our route went like this.

Sunday we had a late start and went to Baker Beach, not the nude part. Great place for a nap and dolphin watching, and it has been almost 50 years since there was a fatal shark attack here.

At the Palace of the Legion of Honor was a Holocaust memorial that was quite creepy.

I then, very wisely, blew my money at Sports Basement. Followed by refueling at Dosa. Sunday was a short day, we had big plans for Monday.....

So, on Monday we went for a hike in Point Reyes National Seashore.

Destination: the waterfall into the sea.

The hike took us through some forest and grassy hills, by lakes and to the ocean.

We walked a ways along the beach until we met up with another trail and made our way back to the car.

Along the way back we stopped at a small lake for a swim.
