Fountainhead Park

We have been to visit Fountainhead Park a couple times recently. It is a half hour south of us. It is a park on the north side of a man made lake that was used as a primary water reservoir until 50 years ago. They have cheap boat rentals and boat motor restrictions. The park also has some of the better local mountain biking, which I am yet to try out.

open carry

Virginia is an "open carry" state. So anyone can openly carry (not conceal) a gun:
"Article I, Section 13

That a well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state, therefore, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; that standing armies, in time of peace, should be avoided as dangerous to liberty; and that in all cases the military should be under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power."
Kinda creepy.

Bad weather

We have had some crazy weather the last couple of weeks. Thunder and lightning storms with tornadoes.

Here are a couple trees down on my bike route to work.

Memorial Day 08

This year's Memorial day adventure took place on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in the cottage of some friends of mine from New York. (Last year was with Bev at here Mt. Eaton childhood playground) The people who this place are my adventure racing teammates from last September (and the same race coming up again this year).

<-- I can't remember his name.......

The place is about 3-3.5 hours from Arlington.

This photo is taken on the inside shore of the peninsula, facing the Chesepeake Bay, Cape Charles.

I took allot of photos of this boat, but not much else over both weekends we were on the DelMarVa Peninsula.

I suppose this was necessary way out here. This was at the local post office.

Assateague Park beach.

I suppose we were checking each other out.

We returned to this house the weekend following Memorial Day weekend. We wanted to spend more time in Assateague park and ride our bikes there.
